This is a response from the Kosmic Fusion Faculty to the continued attack and slander committed by two disgruntled individuals who were officially dissociated from our movement in April 2018. This explanation is meant to provide information to maintain clarity, and is not intended to slander or sabotage any individuals mentioned. As you may be aware, Kosmic Fusion was attacked by two ex-volunteers, who were backed by Journalists Tony Wall and Steve Kilgallon of New Zealand.
These ex-volunteers both have strong traits of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), and have tried to destroy the movement with revenge articles and by resorting to smear campaigns involving so-called “anti-cult movements” which have a strong religious bias. These “anti-cult” institutions want to stamp out anything that does not adhere to mainstream Christianity, aiming to keep people under their dogmatic control.
“Many survivors (of narcissism) are used to the “wait and see” tactic which only leaves them vulnerable to a second attack.”
― Shahida Arabi
This response by Kosmic Fusion also proves the ideology of institutes like CIFS which end up empowering “fake victims” in our society. These types of people attract each other and then work in connivance to tarnish genuine organizations and movements. This has been explained very clearly in an article titled Mass Media Cult Scare: How the “Free Press” Targets Spiritual Minorities.
Step-by-step clarification to the slander and libel by Joy Kuo
– Prepared by the Faculty of Kosmic Fusion
Background: Prior to her engagement at Kosmic Fusion, Joy Kuo went by various names such as “Tzu-Ling Kuo”, “Irene Kuo” and “Komal Kuo”. For the sake of simplicity, we refer to this ex-volunteer as Joy Kuo.
Joy initially expressed her interest in volunteering for Kosmic Fusion in January 2013. At this time, Joy was working as a librarian at the University of Sydney in Australia. Prior to volunteering for Kosmic Fusion, Joy was an active devotee of Lu Shen-yen, who claims to be the “True Buddha”. Joy Kuo thus has a background in being involved with an actual “Buddhist c*lt”, where the teacher even delivered a lecture on 11th March 2000 instructing his devotees on how to kill someone with a spell. This is a type of religion she followed, and so it is very surprising that someone with this experience would have supposedly taken 5 years to realise that she had become involved in another alleged “c*lt”. The claim made against Kosmic Fusion is not only illogical, but also laughable due to the prior experience of this so-called “victim” – however, the Faculty of Kosmic Fusion would like to provide more insight to debunk the shaky foundation upon which such claims are based.
Joy was an active volunteer for Kosmic Fusion between January 2013 and September 2017. During this time, Ms Joy Kuo was given the opportunity to volunteer for Kosmic Fusion at various events. In late September 2017, Joy Kuo was asked to resign from Kosmic Fusion.
Between October 2017 and November 2017, Joy sent number of emails to other volunteers while claiming to be in a “reflective mode”, in order to make her way back into Kosmic Fusion. We are providing excerpts from such communications throughout this response in order to maintain clarity on the sequence of events. Some of the information has specifics like place, date and names of individuals involved with Joy Kuo.
We welcome an investigation by any 3rd party agency to verify this information.
The only time that Joy ever lived with any other volunteers of Kosmic Fusion was between mid-June 2017 to mid-September 2017, while organizing a FiT reunion in Auckland, New Zealand. We will take a look at how real incidents have been twisted with an agenda, and with the sole intention of slandering the reputation of Kosmic Fusion.
We are making this information public in order to keep the facts out in the open and to spread awareness of how a noble spiritual mission can be victimized.
Debunking false claims against Kosmic Fusion
Claim: Joy took “voluntary redundancy” from her job as a librarian at the University of Sydney, Australia to volunteer full-time for Kosmic Fusion.
Truth: Joy (Tzu-Ling Kuo) actually took “voluntary redundancy” in 2015 to focus on her own businesses as listed below. In these companies, Joy was participating in the role of director, partner or sole proprietor:
- Holographic Quantum Touch [24/03/2013 to 4/08/2016]
- Holistic Freedom & Wellbeing [ABN: 66552251906. 19/05/2015 to 27/09/2018]
- Holistic Freedom [ABN: 66552251906. 1/04/2015 to till date]
- Komal Hanuman [ABN: 93116151229. 4/06/2015 to 12/2017]
- Kosmic Fusion Australia Pty Ltd [ABN: 39168915311. 3/04/2014 to 12/2017]
Joy’s Modus Operandi was to create deliberate confusion and then use it as a cover for her personal gain. For example, at the Mind Body Spirit festivals, Joy represented herself as a volunteer for Kosmic Fusion, and thus all expenses for the events were paid for by other volunteers of the parent company Kosmic Fusion International (New Zealand). The contributions and payments received at such events were then funneled by Joy Kuo into Kosmic Fusion Australia Pty Ltd and then into Holistic Freedom.
This was a deliberate attempt to show losses against Kosmic Fusion Australia Pty Ltd and to develop assets for Holistic Freedom. The income, assets and volunteers of Kosmic Fusion Australia Pty Ltd were consistently exploited by Joy Kuo for her personal gain.
Evidence:
Excerpt from one of Joy’s emails (received in October 2017):
“i was selfish and didn’t want to take the risk of getting my property involved if set up as joint sole trader, so had requested Clarito to set up Kosmic Fusion Australia company as Ltd for my benefit”
Observation: It is clear from above list of companies that Joy Kuo was clear about her ambitions to use Kosmic Fusion as launching pad for her personal businesses and not for volunteering full-time as she claims.
Claim: Joy Kuo claims she has made donations of over $100,000 to Kosmic Fusion while she was ‘volunteering‘.
Truth: Joy spent all her time developing her personal business ventures for her personal gain which have been elaborated above.
Joy Kuo was using Kosmic Fusion as a launching pad and networking source for her individual business ventures until September 2017. When her modus operandi came to light, she was removed from our spiritual movement. It is obvious that no movement becomes dangerous and abusive overnight, and so Joy’s sudden claims against Kosmic Fusion after her removal indicate a hidden motive. Further, Joy Kuos’ narrative and claims have never been corroborated by any substantial evidence.
Observation: Due to operating so many personal businesses, it is clear Joy could not have dedicated 100% of her time or funds for Kosmic Fusion, hence this is a blatant lie which Stuff New Zealand’s “Investigative Journalists” neglected to explore, in order to sensationalize their narrative.
Claim: Joy Kuo claims that she was abused at the Ashram.
Truth: Joy Kuo visited New Zealand in mid-June 2017 to organize a Facilitator in Training (FiT) Reunion, and we expected that she would have returned to Australia after the event. However, Joy choose to stay back in New Zealand and cancelled multiple flight tickets to Australia as she was failing to get upgrades to Business Class.
“The narcissist is someone who has “buried his true self-expression in response to early injuries and replaced it with a highly developed, compensatory false self.” – Stephen Johnson (Psychologist)
Evidence: One such event occurred on 1st August 2017 (around 3 am). Joy left the Ashram for Auckland International Airport. However, at the Airport, Joy did not get her Business Class upgrade as anticipated. Joy then asked another volunteer of Kosmic Fusion to pick her up from the Airport and driver her back to the Ashram.
In August 2017 we had a small celebration at the Ashram where Joy is seen celebrating with other Kosmic Fusion volunteers. There were a number of other volunteers who joined from overseas via video conference.
Another photo from 28th August 2017, where Joy Kuo participated in the celebrations of Ganesha Chaturthi. She can be seen together with rest of the volunteers, and no one is being given preferential treatment. Even Sree Maa & Shri Ji are seated on the floor after the evening pooja (prayers).
These videos & images are from the time which Joy Kuo claims she was being “tortured”. Such proofs only indicate Joy Kuo’s version of events is a fabrication intended to slander and libel.
The lease for the “Ashram” was terminated and the property was vacated on 31st August 2017. Joy returned back to her home on the Central Coast, Australia in the first week of September 2017.
Some logical and rational questions one may want to ask:
-
If Joy was “tortured” at the Ashram as per her claims, then why did she return from the airport instead of flying to Australia?
-
If Joys’ family was indeed important to her then why did she miss her flights so many times due to not getting a business class upgrade?
Excerpt from one of Joy’s email clearly stating she choose to stay in New Zealand:
“[i] had chosen to stay in NZ for 3 months without looking after Dennis and Sean.”
Observation: The evidence provided above makes it abundantly clear that Joy Kuo is blatantly lying and has created a completely fabricated version of events to suit her narrative. This is a typical narcissistic ploy of playing the victim card when they are not able to get what they want. This happened to be the crux of the narrative provided to CIFS to support an attack on Kosmic Fusion. Baseless claims have been made by Joy Kuo & CIFS, who have knowingly been covering up the truth.
Claim: Joy Kuo was asked to leave her family.
Truth: There are several volunteers who have been associated with Kosmic Fusion since 2012, however until date it is only Joy Kuo who has made an allegation like this. A number of our active volunteers still live happily with their families (including partners and children).
“Because narcissists often operate on inauthenticity and falsehoods, the consequences of their actions may eventually catch-up to them, and exact a heavy price. These are the moments of life-crisis for the narcissist” – Preston Ni, M.S.B.A.
The reality is that Joy was always asked why she stayed up late nights. Joy Kuo’s business partner Hanuman has shared a number of personal messages over the span of a few years where Joy was sending messages between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., and ignoring her family to focus on her own businesses.
Excerpt from one of Joy’s emails where she talks about her family life:
“i didn’t look after Dennis and Sean much for long time, had to rely on Dennis to look after Sean most of the time when i chose to spent time with Hanuman to pursue my dreams. When we were short of money, i still went to India and Taiwan trips [retreats]. i was selfish in pursuing my spiritual dream and didn’t care for my family”
Observation: Joy Kuo has made a lame attempt to push her narrative of Kosmic Fusion separating her from her family in order to receive support from institutes like CIFS. In reality, most volunteers associated with Kosmic Fusion live with their respective families.
Claim: Joy Kuo claims she was forced to “make confessions” at the Ashram.
Truth: Joy was never asked to do any “confessions” at the Ashram at all. All her reflections were done from the comfort of her own home in Australia between October 2017 and mid-November 2017. All these reflections revolved around complaints about her bullying nature and controlling attitude towards fellow volunteers. Joy’s reflections were simply part of her strategy to make her way back into Kosmic Fusion after being removed, and it is clear that she flipped her narrative overnight in order to take revenge after she was unable to get back in.
“Both narcissists and gaslighters are prone to frequent lies and exaggerations (about themselves and others), and have the tendency of lifting themselves up by putting others down.” – Johnson, S. Humanizing the Narcissistic Style.
Nature of complaints received against Joy Kuo:
- Abusive & bullying behaviour and gross misconduct towards fellow volunteers.
Excerpt from emails Joy wrote in her “reflective mode” about her behaviour towards fellow volunteers. This email is self-explanatory of the type of behaviour that she was displaying on a regular basis:
“….[I] tried to bribe him [Hanuman] so that he could continue to support me and be my PA. Had recalled bought him ear rings as birthday present. ….. I had been treated him like my PA and been rude/bully to him, had the false sense of entitlement and felt important about myself and being a bossy, arrogant, and aggressive to Hanuman and also exploited him financially so he could share with the expenses incurred during the trip, had no consideration about his financial situation and still invited him to go to Taiwan for my shellfish desires and benefits for exploring Taiwan market.”
“i saw the huge potential in Chinese market and always had that in mind i will be travelling and build my territory in Chinese speaking countries or cities and get benefits/profits out of it. In early 2017, i exploited and manipulated Hanuman to come to Taiwan with me so that i could test the water and see if i could develop any connections during the trip under the guise of running Meetup events in Taiwan.”
- Joy Kuo was commercializing a session/practice for which she was neither qualified or certified. Yet, she was exploiting people by selling packages and charging over $800 for a session that she was not certified to offer, let alone charge for.
Excerpt from emails Joy wrote in her “reflective mode” where Joy explains her strategies for exploiting clients:
“i applied the strategies to encourage clients to have 3-5 healing sessions then to introduce them to do AwaKeNiN TrANsForMaTioN workshop”
Evidence:
- One of the complaints from the volunteers in Sydney was that Joy was siphoning resources and funds from Kosmic Fusion Australia Pty Ltd to Holistic Freedom (Joy’s personal business).
This excerpt from Joy’s email details how she manipulated Kosmic Fusion volunteers to build her own businesses:
“After purchased the house had invited Nick and Hanuman coming to help with the renovation of the house. Have made plans to invite Hanuman to establish a [Holistic Freedom] wellness centre together to exploit him financially ….. had demanded him to join me and i offered to set up website and Facebook to promote the services. At that time my budgets were very tight so i requested Hanuman to invest some of the equipments for the centre, had used the money from the shared bank account or cash money for some of the purchases.”
“Near the end of last year [2016], i wanted to make money so selling Hanuman the idea of selling some merchandise to get some funding also i invested some products such as candles and tea leaves to sell in the local community fairs/markets and give away flyers to promote the centre, had exploited Hanuman to get involved for a few local fairs to set up the stand and driving me around.“
- Several complaints were received that Joy was conducting unsolicited sales of Multi-Level Marketing businesses like World Venture and Jeunesse to Kosmic Fusion volunteers. Joy provided these specifics in one of her emails describing how she exploited fellow volunteers:
“For World Venture i had approached Hanuman, Ekta, Dallia, Mima, Dallia went ahead to approach FITs living in NZ, Mima went to approach a few Pulsars in Melbourne, Mima and Dallia didn’t have money to join, so i borrowed them money to join the membership. Had went to a Melbourne World Venture event with Hanuman and Mima.
[I] forced Hanuman to borrow money from me to join the Jeunesse membership and also using her sister’s name to purchase the products using my investment to meet the requirements for getting bonus. Ekta joined the membership but didn’t continue later on, had tried to use Archita’s name to purchase product but then had asked her to return the goods because my initial plan didn’t work“
Evidence:
- Organizing a fake AwaKeNiN & TrANsForMaTioN workshop in June 2017. This was one of the main reasons for removing Joy Kuo, as the core offering of Kosmic Fusion was compromised by such a devious act.
- Blatant plagiarism from other websites and passing it off as Holistic Freedom and Kosmic Fusion packages. Below is an example where “100 Benefits of Quantum Method” are copied from the website “quantummethod.org.bd” and Joy has merely reworded or replaced words in some parts.
Evidence:
- Number of volunteers complained that Joy was demanding funds on the name of “Kosmic Fusion”. There were instances in 2017, where Joy was manipulating volunteers to pay for her accountants fee which was paid in 2014.
- Unauthorized copy, distribution and storage of copyrighted material – including recording and making illegal copies of live webinars.
Joy had a habit of covertly recording our workshops and sessions since 2014. Over a period of time, Joy had copied various confidential and sensitive teachings to her personal email accounts, hard drives, cloud and other storage devices with sinister plans to fake workshops and handout certificates at the end.
Evidence:
- Joy secretly recorded private conversations with the intent to blackmail individuals at a later point. Such an act is criminal offence in Australia and New Zealand.
Evidence:
- With the revelation of such serious misconduct, and her failing to provide any satisfactory information, Joy Kuo was relieved from all roles and responsibilities in September 2017. Despite this, on the 22nd September 2017, Joy goes as far as to emotionally blackmail another FiT to delay her resignation.
Evidence:
It is a known fact that rejection is not received well by narcissists. Subsequently, between October and November 2017, Joy Kuo sent several emails and letters requesting to be accepted back into Kosmic Fusion. However, as Joy’s misconduct was serious in nature, such requests were turned down. Soon, such “pleas” turned from blackmail, threats, misbehavior & hostility towards Hanuman (a fellow FiT and business partner of Joy Kuo). Eventually, when she did not get her way, Joy Kuo transferred all debts racked up by her onto Hanuman.
It is obvious that Joy Kuo was aware of the mounting evidence against her. Therefore, between November 2017 and March 2018, Joy Kuo networked with Anti-Cult Support groups in Australia and New Zealand, providing them with a fabricated and twisted narrative of being abused.
Observation: Joy Kuo was confronted with evidence of her manipulative, bullying, controlling & abusive behavior towards other volunteers, and was removed from Kosmic Fusion due to the severity of her misbehavior. Joys actions such as conducting fake workshops, stealing confidential information & exploiting spirituality for commercial gains were not acceptable. Joy did not take rejection well and tried several ploys to make her way back into Kosmic Fusion. When she failed to return, she embarked on a plan to slander and attack Kosmic Fusion instead.
All of above information was provided to journalists Tony Wall and Steve Kilgallon, however they choose to ignore all such evidence to push their biased narrative.
The Anti-Cult, Media and Church Nexus
“Cult Information and Family Support” (CIFS) – this agency has worked hand-in-hand with Joy Kuo in order to make a quid pro quo nexus. Even the most basic research shows that this organization seems to be operating with the sole purpose of sabotaging institutions and organizations which do not adhere to orthodox Christianity. In general, such organizations are always against Hinduism and any new religious or spiritual movements, with their focus being one of spreading fear within the community.
As of mid-January 2019, CIFS has been sent two email communications requesting them to speak to any volunteer or workshop participants of their choosing to validate the facts. However, CIFS has clearly chosen not to respond or seek any validation or confirmation of Joy Kuo’s fabricated narrative.
Evidence that Joy Kuo and CIFS are using each other for publicity:
- Joy Kuo launches her website offering ‘sessions’ in 1st week of January 2019
- ‘Let’s Talk about Sects’ airs a podcast with Joy Kuo and Iphigenie Amoutzias (another expelled FiT) on 16th January 2019.
- On 18th January 2019, Joy Kuo airs interview with Ros Hodgkins (CIFS) on her YouTube channel.
It is obvious that CIFS is part of this organized witch hunt. Such organizations appear to receive donations and false stories from people like Joy Kuo, taking no effort to validate any claims before attacking religious/spiritual movements that do not conform to their orthodox Christian values.
CIFS and websites like cults.co.nz work hand-in-glove to bash minority institutions and other beliefs which do not adhere to orthodox Christianity. Media houses, like Stuff New Zealand, took extreme caution to only interview people with Christian belief systems and ignore facts & evidences that would have diluted their sensationalist narrative. Stuff New Zealand did not interview or take any opinions from Hindu scholars or make any attempt to take a “holistic” approach in covering their story.
Tying up loose ends
This episode of Kosmic Fusion proves the ideology of institutes like CIFS which are set up to empower “fake victims” in our society. These types of people attract each other and then connive together to tarnish genuine organizations and movements. This has been explained very clearly in this article titled Mass Media Cult Scare: How the “Free Press” Targets Spiritual Minorities.
Allegations of brainwashing are being used by these Cult Support groups to disguise their own intolerance and accusatory denunciations intended to invoke fear and horror towards new and “unknown” religious and spiritual movements. There is no scientific backing for the very concept of brainwashing as described by these Cult Support groups, and therefore the tactics used by these groups in the name of “deprogramming” appears to be nothing but a money minting business that supports the mainstream religious agenda.
By the production of this clarification and without any prejudice, we keep all facts out in the open which can be corroborated by any 3rd party. It is beyond reasonable doubt that Kosmic Fusion has been a victim of various kinds of narcissism, dishonesty and people & organizations with ulterior motives. However it gives us immense pleasure to know people are smart enough to recognise Truth from Lies, Real from the Unreal. We fulfill our duty by narrating all the facts and leave the conclusions to the reader’s discretion.
